BA Bristol & Bath Branch News |

On Saturday 19th April the Branch celebrated Einstein's Birthday in style at Radstock Museum. Visitors who survived the wonders of exploding custard powder (above) were treated to a plethora of hands-on science ranging from acoustics to optical illusions.
30th Nov 2004: The Branch has won a grant of £2500 from the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council to run a family rocket-building day (Rockets in Radstock) with the spectacular 11m tall UK-built Starchaser Industries as the centrepiece. More details from Colin@ba-west.org.uk.
15th Nov 2004: The Branch has won an Einstein Year award of £1500 from the Institute of Physics to create a touring exhibition of astronimical images called "This is Your Universe!" and run a hands-on event in National Science Week at Radstock Museum. More details from Colin@ba-west.org.uk.
1st Sept 2004: The Branch has received a strategic grant of £500 by The BA towards Einstein Year activities as part of Science in Radstock. The money will help enable us to bring top scientists to speak at Radstock Museum and run a "Family Rocket Day" in May 2005. More details from radstock.events@ba-west.org.uk.

On 6th November 2003, at the IMAX Cinema @Bristol, Professor Colin Pillinger gave a fascinating talk on the Beagle 2 Mars Mission, to an enthusiastic audience and several media crews.
In August 2003 the name of the Branch was changed from West of England Branch to Bristol and Bath Branch. This is both a reflection of the normal area in which the Branch operates, and an acknowledgement of the creation of several newer branches in the West and South-West of England.
It was decided not to change the Branch domain. It remains ba-west.org.uk
